About the Highway Gallery
The Gallery aims to present a continuous program of quality temporary exhibitions, including both emerging and established artists and community groups and organisations. Located adjacent to the Mount Waverley Shopping Centre it is very close to trains and buses, shops, cafes and restaurants, and has ample car parking.
The Highway Gallery was established in 1990 as an initiative of the community of Waverley to serve the City of Monash and surrounding suburbs. The Gallery is an incorporated association managed by a Committee of Management.
The building at 14 The Highway functioned as the 'Waverley City Gallery' until 1990, when the Waverley City Gallery moved to a new building on the corner of Jells Rd & Ferntree Gully Rd in Wheelers Hill. The Highway Gallery was then established on the old site. In 1999 the new Waverley City Gallery on Jells Rd was renamed the Monash Gallery of Art.
